This will be the third year of our Maths Week Mega Quiz. Originally created to reach out to more pupils across the country during the pandemic, this quiz has taken off as an annual Maths Week event, with 18,000 pupils participating last year. This year we hope to make it even bigger.

Using physical maths resources, we pose 8 questions, live to pupils via Zoom. Pupils work together as a team on the problems and submit one answer sheet per class. The event takes no longer than one hour and is scheduled for 11.11am. All pupils in 5th, 6th and First Year / P6, P7 and Year 8 classes are welcome to participate.

This workshop focuses on doubling. Beginning with a purpose-written story followed by a question-and-answer session and then an arty maths activity to reinforce learning. This workshop will help children to see that doubling a number is the same as adding the number to itself. Those attending the event will need:

1. Dice or cards for the double it activity
2. Paint and paper for the art activity (schools can opt to do this after the session)

Due to the continued success of the Mega Quiz for pupils in senior primary and secondary, last year we piloted a Mini Quiz for younger pupils. This transpired to be a great success with 12,000 pupils participating in the inaugural event. This year we hope for even more participants.
