Gaelic Football

Gaelic football, commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. The version of Gaelic football that we get to see in Ireland today was developed in the late 19th century. However, its presence in Ireland can be dated back to the early 14th century. The organization has over 500,000 members worldwide. Gaelic football is played by teams of 15. It is immediately seen to be different from Soccer as the players can handle and carry the ball subject to certain rules. The aim is to score by kicking or striking the ball with your hand and getting the ball between the goalposts. A score over the crossbar is 1 point and a score under the goalpost is called a goal and worth 3 points. The team with the highest score wins.
Most Gaelic football matches last for 60 minutes, two 30-minute halves. However, senior inter-county matches will last 70 minutes.
The Championship final matches are played every year in the Croke Park stadium in Dublin. This iconic stadium can seat more than 83,000 spectators and is the third-largest sports stadium in Europe by capacity.

GAA All-Ireland Championship

In the All-Ireland Championship round-robin, 16 teams are drawn into four groups of four teams. Each team plays the other teams in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. Each team plays one home, one away and one neutral fixture.
