Ireland Rocks 2022 (Primary)
October 17, 2022 - October 19, 2022
We’re celebrating Maths Week Ireland’s all-island initiative with an Ireland Rocks competition!
How does it work? From Monday 17th October to Wednesday 19th October, students can compete against others across all of Ireland in answering as many multiplication and division questions correctly as they can. The winning school and class will be based on the highest average number of correct answers per student.
- Every correct answer that a student gives, in any game type, between the hours of 7:30am IST to 7:30pm IST each day within the competition period will contribute to their class and school score.
- There is a 60-minute limit playtime per player, per day. Those 60-minutes do not need to be played in one block – they can be spread throughout each day.
- Each class has a minimum player count of 10. If 1 to 9 students’ in the class play in the competition, their total will be divided by 10 regardless.

What is Times Tables Rock Stars?
In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. The Times Tables Rock Stars programme is an online resource which helps to create confident and competent maths learners in primary schools.
This video explains everything you might want to know!
How much does it cost?
All schools are eligible to sign up for free access to take part in Ireland Rocks. At the end of this trial period you will be given a discount code which can be put towards an annual subscription. There is no obligation to purchase at the end of the free trial period.
How will Times Tables Rock Stars help your students?
Students concentrate on a different times table each week with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised, every third week or so. The platform uses an intelligent algorithm to tailor questions for each student by targeting the facts that each child could improve on. This is based on speed and accuracy. Students work through the tables in “chunks” of questions at a time.
The result of this steady and adaptive approach is swifter progress towards excellent recall of all the facts in the selected tables. Don’t fear…the tables you’ve chosen will be covered by pupils, just in a very targeted, individualised way.
This format has been proven to boost recall speed for primary school students worldwide. With the options for tournaments, league boards and participation in Ireland Rocks, Times Tables Rock Stars promises to tackle the task of times tables in schools in an interactive and engaging way.
