Maths Week is so big that we cant share everything, but we want to give you a daily update of what’s happening around the island. We will share updates about in-person events, online events, activities and resources. You will also see a lot of what’s going on by following Maths Week on social media. Maths Week Olympiad (Year 2 - Year 11) (Senior Infants to Third Year)Online 17th-24th Of October, Online We have two sets of papers; for Northern Ireland and for the Republic. The Olympiad includes question papers for all classes primary and secondary. This is the only Olympiad of its kind (in the world) to cater for the foundation phase. The papers consist of 20 questions and 5 bonus questions. Every learner that takes part will receive a certificate (either bronze, silver or gold included in the online folder) for achieving marks from 1-20 out of 20. Any marks higher than 20 will receive a platinum certificate. Find out more on the Maths Week 2022 Olympiad. Target Boards (Primary)Every Day Of Maths Week, Online Target Boards are a great fun way for your class to practice arithmetic during Maths Week. Pupils won’t even realise they are working! There is a senior section for upper primary schools and a junior section for younger pupils. Target Boards run every day of Maths Week, and a leaderboard to compete for! Its all about the fun of working together. There’s still time to register and play. | |

Maths Week TV Mega Quiz with Franz Schlindwein (Audience: Y6-Y8 (NI) 5th class-1st year (ROI); 11:11am - 12:11pm This will be the third year of our Maths Week Mega Quiz. Originally created to reach out to more pupils across the country during the pandemic, this quiz has taken off as an annual Maths Week event, with 18,000 pupils participating last year. Andrew Jeffrey at the Helix! (Primary)We are delighted to be back with in-person events. Today Andrew Jeffrey, aka The Mathemagician, will be playing to in excess of 1,000 primary pupils in the Helix, DCU. Andrew is a teacher, lecturer, magician, and keynote speaker and has been described as a mathematical evangelist. Maths Week Parent Workshops (For parents)This event today from 7-8 pm in Tullamore will be of interest to parents in the midlands. Did you struggle with maths at schools? Are you worried your child will too? Why not sign up for our Free Maths Week Parent Workshops! These free workshops with Dr Aisling Twohill of DCU will help you to help your child with maths, building confidence, enjoying maths and seeing how relevant it is to everyday life. Linking Maths with unplugged coding (Teachers)Laois, Galway Join the PDST Primary STEM team for Linking Mathematics with Unplugged Coding this October. Our 2-hour workshop will explore the links between unplugged coding, computational thinking and the Mathematics curriculum. The workshop will include practical ideas and resources that can be used at all class levels and in all school contexts. This course does not require any prior knowledge or experience of coding in order to participate. | |
