The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics is excited to celebrate Maths Week 2022 by hosting the Museum of Mathematics of Catalonia (MMACA) and a talk from Dr Fernando Blasco, a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and one of Spain’s best known mathematics promoters.

He uses magic to introduce the public to topics such as prime numbers, knot theory, sudoku, topology, number systems, mind games, Rubik’s cube, calendars and quick calculations. His talk will take place at 14.00 in Lynch Theatre F (SCIH 1.37) at the UCD O’ Brien Centre for Science. Students are invited to join us at the main area of the UCD O’ Brien Centre for Science from 12.30pm to experience a wide variety of engaging mathematical puzzles from MMACA

Reservation is essential. There are limited places available.

How to Register:

Only teachers can register for the event and not individual students. The event is open to TY, 5th & 6th year students.

The event is free, but there are limited places available, so we encourage teachers to register for the event as soon as possible. Each teacher should provide the exact number of students attending from their class. We emphasise that students will need to be supervised at all times by their teachers. Parking is very limited on campus and we will send information about public transport links to UCD and information for coach parking to all registered teachers.
