
MATHS WEEK TV – Adventures with Shapes
Audience: 3rd, 4th class (ROI) / Year 5, 6 (NI)
In this interactive talk we explore the unusual properties of Zoe’s favourite shapes. Includes hands-on activities for the students to do in the classroom, including cutting up mobius loops and problem solving with paper folding. Introduces students to the curious world of topology.
Venue: Online
Requirements for the workshop:
- One strip of paper each (one quarter of A4 cut lengthways is good)
- Scissors (shared is fine)
- Sellotape (shared in pairs is fine)
- Some blank sheets of A4 paper (maybe three per student)
- Pencil
- Ruler is helpful but not essential
