Mathematician

Dr. Tom Crawford is a Mathematician at the University of Oxford, serving as an Early Career Teaching and Outreach Fellow at St Edmund Hall. He manages an award-winning website and social media profiles (@tomrocksmaths) on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.  Tom frequently appears on BBC, Oxford University's digital outreach portal, Oxplore, and Numberphile, the largest math education YouTube channel with 3 million+ subscribers.  He previously worked with Oxford Colleges, including St John's, where he promoted STEM through the Inspire Programme for non-selective state school pupils. Tom also worked for the Naked Scientists, an audio production company, discussing science and math on BBC Radio 5 Live.  Tom earned his PhD in applied math from the University of Cambridge in 2016, focusing on river water's ocean entry. He completed four years of math studies at the University of Oxford.  His website, tomrocksmaths.com, showcases videos, podcasts, articles, and puzzles to make math more enjoyable. He collaborates with Numberphile, a YouTube education channel with 3.14 million subscribers.  Recently Tom has been the guest Mathematician on TV’s Countdown!
