Maths Week TV
As part of Maths Week TV 2021, Dr Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin moderated a highly insightful careers event showcasing the many professions involving maths. Featuring a dynamic panel of speakers with representatives from:

Take a look at our list of role models below. We have more than 70 local heroes! They’ll tell you how they use maths in their jobs. And even how they felt about maths at school: loved it, hated it, could not see its usefulness… Now, though, they all agree that Maths is an essential part of their job!
You can filter them by adding keywords (country, job area, etc.) to the search bar to narrow down the list. Try ‘lab’ or ‘sports’ or ‘arts’ for example.
Just keep in mind that they may no longer be working for the same company or in the same position since the publication.
Please be aware that the research engine will search for any word with the letter you give it. If you’re looking for something like ‘Northern Ireland’, just type ‘north’ or ‘northern’. The letters NI are in the nouns ‘senior’, ‘cognitive’ and ‘administrator’ and so on, so you’ll see role models that aren’t necessarily from Northern Ireland.
To search by gender, please use ‘woman’ or ‘girl’ / ‘boy’ or ‘male’. We don’t have a non-binary role model yet.
If you were a role model and would like your story edited or removed, please let us know by sending an email to: mathsweek.wd@setu.ie
