‘Have you got Maths eyes?’

Maths week 2025 Competition

Have You Got Maths Eyes helps people of all ages see the maths in everyday life — at home, in school, on the street, or in the park. By making maths visible in familiar settings, Maths Eyes builds confidence, develops problem-solving skills, encourages conversations, and shows the real-world value of mathematics.

The Maths Eyes Poster and Group Initiative Competition gives the opportunity for students, teachers, tutors and the community to showcase their Maths Eyes.

Maths Week Ireland is pleased once again to join Maths Eyes Team for this National competition.

Check out our Maths Eyes Video and visit www.haveyougotmathseyes.com for more details about how to develop your Maths Eyes and enter the Competition.

FAQ

  • Can we participate if we are not from Ireland? We are sorry. The ‘Have you got Maths Eyes’ competition is only open to anyone living in the island of Ireland (Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland).
  • Do I need to rewrite the tagline? It is already written on the picture. Yes, you do. This will help the jury members to remember the picture when looking at the list.

  • I have got issues to upload the picture on the form. The size may be too wide. The website won’t accept picture that is over 1200px or over 2Mb. However keep a record of your original picture before downsizing. We will need a high resolution (2Mb or over) picture for printing if you are one of the winners.

  • I don’t have a camera. Can I use my phone? Yes, you can. Be aware that if you share the picture through social media app (Whatsapp, messenger…) or text, the app will automatically compress your picture. Send it by email or directly download it to your computer to avoid any unwanted compression.

  • 2 students or my children want to work together on their poster. Is that possible? Yes it is. 2 students or siblings can submit their work under their category (under 7, 11, 14, 19, adult); if more than 2, they should submit their work under the category Family & Community

  • All my class is working on a Maths Eyes project / All my school is working on a Maths Eyes project / My community group is engaged in a Maths Eyes project. Can we submit it? Yes you can. We have a special category: group initiative. You will need to describe your Maths Eyes Group Initiative, describe who was involved, how the project went and what your favourite part was. Create a power point with these elements and a sample of photographs you took during the project and/or some examples of what you developed e.g. the Maths Trail, Maths Eyes posters, etc. More info on the Maths Eyes website.

  • In which language should I write my tagline? You can write your tagline in English or in Irish.
