Dr Sheila Donegan named National Businesswoman of the Year in STEM

Maths Week Celebrates George Stokes

Wednesday 13th August was the 200th anniversary of the birth of legendary Irish mathematician, George Gabriel Stokes, whose maths is today used to model climate change.  Marking the occasion, Ireland’s Maths Week 2019 will include Stokes’s work in events and information for schools and the general public from 12th – 20th October next.

A Festival of Maths Fun at Spraoi

Spraoi & SprÓg! Calmast, Waterford Institute of Technology’s ground-breaking STEM Engagement Centre took to the streets of Waterford recently for Spraoi with shows, demos and loads of fun activities for young and old. In the week prior to Spraoi, Calmast presented workshops and shows as part of the SprÓg Festival in Garter Lane.
