There was great excitement amongst the Maths Week team today as registration tipped the hundred thousand mark. Schools across the country have been getting on board with pupils coming from rural and urban areas alike. Wednesday 13th August was the 200th anniversary of the birth of legendary Irish mathematician, George Gabriel Stokes, whose maths is today used to model climate change. Marking the occasion, Irelands Maths Week 2019 will include Stokess work in events and information for schools and the general public from 12th 20th October next.

Calmast, Waterford Institute of Technologys ground-breaking STEM Engagement Centre took to the streets of Waterford recently for Spraoi with shows, demos and loads of fun activities for young and old. In the week prior to Spraoi, Calmast presented workshops and shows as part of the SprÓg Festival in Garter Lane.
