Dear Maths Friends, Celebrate International Day of Mathematics this week. Saturday is March 14th 14/3 to us but 3.14 to the US and has been traditionally celebrated there as Pi day. This was adopted in 2019 by UNESCO as International Day of Mathematics (IDM). Even though it’s on a Saturday, you can still celebrate it this week or early next week. Below please find details of activities you can use to become part of this celebration. Also next week 16 - 22 March is Global Money Week. This event encourages young people to be money smart and of course this starts with maths. See the Money Sense activities below. See also Maths Eyes 2025 winners, Oide primary resources and Sentinus Young Innovators. Happy International Day of maths and a happy St Patrick’s Day to all. |

The creative people at Maths Eyes have developed a Maths Eyes Tagline competition for IDM, with categories for primary, post-primary and the general public. There is a €100 prize to be won in each category for participants North or South!
Using your maths eyes, pick one of four posters and explore the mathematical ideas it presents. Then suggest a tagline that illustrates the maths you see. |

Global Money Week (GMW) is a campaign to ensure that young people are financially aware from an early age. Personal finances can feel daunting, and many young people may not feel confident managing their money. Of course, maths is key to this. |
