WIT\u0092s Calmast team are delighted to be part of such an inspiring festival and to bring maths to the streets of Waterford over the August Bank Holiday weekend<\/em><\/h4>\n

Maths Ireland,<\/a>\u00a0coordinated by Calmast, is once again celebrating maths during Spraoi. As one of the festival\u0092s creative partners,\u00a0Calmast, Waterford Institute of Technology\u0092s groundbreaking STEM engagement centre<\/a>brings workshops, demos and activities to thousands of people over two days of Spraoi.<\/p>\n

Spraoi<\/a>\u00a0is a free urban festival with performers from all over the world taking place from 2-4 August on the streets of Waterford.<\/p>\n

The all-weekend festival features Irish and international artists, street performers and musicians and attracts more than 100,000 visitors over three days.<\/p>\n

Maths on the streets of Waterford<\/h4>\n

Ben Dolan, Maths Ireland Digital Engagement Manager, says \u0093We\u0092re delighted to be part of such an inspiring festival and to bring maths to the streets of Waterford. Maths Ireland will present hands-on puzzles, games and other activities for all on Hanover Street, 3 and 4 August, from 1pm.\u0094<\/p>\n

For several years now Hanover Street turns into STEM Street during the Spraoi weekend. \u0093Everyone is welcome to engage in exciting experiments, intriguing chemistry demos, hands-on physics, and much more with Calmast, the Physics Buskers, Mathematical Entertainer Caroline Ainslie and Juggling Scientist James Soper, who will also present their shows in Garter Lane Theatre and on Gladstone Street,\u0094 adds Dolan.<\/p>\n

Strong STEM support<\/h4>\n

The STEM events organised by Calmast are supported by Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT),\u00a0Garter Lane Arts Centre, the overall coordinator of the Spr\u00d3g Festival,<\/a>\u00a0and local companies EirGen Pharma, Sanofi, Bausch and Lomb, GSK, MSD, and SFI.<\/p>\n

This wonderful, family friendly event will see people use maths in ways you\u0092d never expect, get drawn in by fun challenges, puzzles and games and discover the wonderful world of numbers, shapes and all of maths.<\/p>\n<\/div>
