Animated GIFs in Geogebra
October 18, 2019 @ 10:00 - 17:00
| FreeAudience: Maths Educators. This workshop on using free maths software “Geogebra” to create infinitely looping animations is a fantastic opportunity to integrate Art into your STEAM toolkit. Students from Fine Art in NCAD will work collaboratively with maths educators to learn how to create visually appealing and interesting animations using mathematical objects and functions. Co-hosted by Feargal Fitzpatrick (Head of Media, School of Fine Art, NCAD) and maths teacher Neil Butler (North Wicklow ETSS and MathsMeetIE) attendees will leave with an understanding and knowledge of animation techniques (frame rates, image size, principles of colours), mathematical objects (trigonometric functions, sequences, series, coordinate geometry) and of the workings of basic and intermediate Geogebra commands. Maths educators, in particular, will leave with experience of using computational thinking and problem solving skills in a creative and exciting way, one in which would be ideal for inclusion in a Transition Year programme.
No prior knowledge of Geogebra or animation is required to attend this workshop.
