Kjartan has written over 50 books, including stage musicals, puzzles, codes, astronomy, magic and most recently his new "Urgum the Axeman" novels. He is best known for his Murderous Maths series which have been translated into over 25 languages and is in use with teachers and home-schoolers throughout the world. He has also presented many maths and science programmes for BBC schools tv, and in between writing he delivers his maths shows to theatres and schools wherever people can understand his strange Yorkshire accent. In 2007 he was a judge for the Blue Peter book competition, this year his latest novel "Urgum and the Goo Goo Bah" is shortlisted for the prestigious "Roald Dahl Funny prize".Who would have thought that a character who started life in a maths book would be up for a comedy prize? In 2009 his latest stage show "Horrible Science Live" (based on Nick Arnold's books) starts touring, and 2009 will also see the publication of the big full-colour "The Murderous Maths of Everything" along with the re-launch of the entire Murderous Maths series.
