Skeptics Maths - Maths and the Media - an equation for confusion
Mathematicians seem resigned to constantly seeing mathematics being mis-used in the media. Most obviously, there are the stupid equations that newspapers seem to love, including the Sun's brilliant formula that had Britney Spears' breasts as the subject. But there are also the more serious cases of misleading mathematics that confuse people and potentially put their health at risk. Matt Parker will take a look at the best and the worst of media mathematics and see if there is anything that irate Mathematicians can do about it.
