Maths Magic with Fernando Blasco

The world of maths offers us seriousness and rigour as well as illusion and fun. Many think that maths is a cold and boring subject, but despite some firm convictions, the things are not always what they seem to be. This 2 hour visit includes a Planetarium Show and a visit to the science and discovery centre Cosmos at the Castle.

Dr. Fernando Blasco is a mathematician and lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, interested in recreational maths and magic. He uses magic to introduce the public to topics such as prime numbers, knot theory, sudoku, topology, number systems, mind games, Rubik’s cube, calendars or quick calculations. He is absolutely convinced that if we knew more details around mathematics we would fall into discipline.

Fernando Blasco is one of Spain’s best known mathematics promoters. He collaborates with TV shows and radio programs in Spain and performs in Civic Centres, Science Museums, University Classrooms and other stages.
