Measure up to Maths with Daniel Sellers

This workshop will open with an exploration of the emotional aspects of maths learning, looking at how our feelings can present barriers to - or opportunities for - learning. It will then draw on the findings of the internationally-renowned Maths4Life research to look in detail at the teaching and learning of measurement. Participants will gain insights into the topic, experience practical teaching ideas and take away knowledge of where to find more teaching ideas and resources. Biography Daniel Sellers is an independent educational consultant specialising in policy and practice in adult education. For a number of years he worked as an adult literacy and numeracy tutor, first in Liverpool then in Glasgow. He was seconded for six years to the Scottish Government to lead developments in adult numeracy, and subsequently he developed the area of financial literacy for adults. He lived in Dublin for three years and has worked extensively with NALA. He is now based in Glasgow. His website is www.danielsellers.co.uk
